Our CM team is tired

Your Question:

“How can I encourage, or refresh those on our CM team who are tired?”

The Issues:

The challenge is that your current CM is “built” on the current CM team.  Even though you may want to give them all some much-needed time off, you can’t do that without severely effecting the “smooth running” of the CM. Remember that you’re serving people, not “machines”!  People have feelings, and need much encouragement and support!

Scripture Foundation:

“And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”  Hebrews 10: 24, 25

Short Answer:

There are three important factors in “refreshing” the current CM team: 1) Personal encouragement, appreciation, and a sense of value, 2) A clear purpose or vision, 3) Support in the form of supplies, curriculum, teamwork, and time “off.” You need to ask God to help you “see” and “feel” what the needs of the current CM team are.  Since you can’t satisfy all of the needs “instantly,” you need to ask God to help you prioritize the needs in light of the overall CM.  What can you do to bring some support or relief quickly, while you work on more long-term efforts to refresh the CM team? The “easiest,” and most effective thing you can do is to personally affirm, and thank, individuals on the CM team.  If there are team members who are “ready to quit,” being personally thanked will give them instant hope! Long-term efforts include improving communication, increasing the training, improving the curriculum, increasing the supplies provided, providing supervisory support, establishing ministry teams, and establishing a rotation process.
